Michelangelo Buonarroti was an Italian Renaissance artist, sculptor, painter, architect, and poet, widely considered one of the greatest artists in history. Born in 1475 in Caprese, Italy, he showed exceptional talent from a young age and was trained in Florence, where he was influenced by the artistic environment of the Renaissance.

He is best known for his masterpieces in sculpture and painting, especially David, Pietà, and the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel in the Vatican. Pietà, which shows the Virgin Mary holding the body of Jesus, is known for its emotional depth and delicate craftsmanship.
