Eugène Trigoulet was a French painter, born in 1864 in Paris, France. He is best known for his portraits and genre scenes, particularly his sensitive depictions of working-class people, sailors, soldiers, and everyday life. His works often combine academic realism with a strong sense of character and atmosphere.

Trigoulet frequently focused on ordinary people and their surroundings, capturing moments of quiet reflection, hardship, and daily life. He was especially interested in maritime subjects and scenes connected to coastal communities, giving many of his paintings a distinctive sense of realism and human emotion.

Among his notable works are portraits and genre scenes depicting fishermen, sailors, workers, and figures from everyday French life. His paintings often emphasize the personality and physical presence of his subjects rather than idealized beauty.

Trigoulet’s style is characterized by expressive brushwork, naturalistic figures, muted colors, and carefully observed details. He used light and shadow to create depth and atmosphere while maintaining a realistic representation of his subjects.

He exhibited his work in Paris and participated in the French Salon, where his paintings gained recognition. His artistic career developed during a period when academic realism continued to be popular while newer movements such as Impressionism were transforming French art.

Eugène Trigoulet died in 1910 at the age of 46. Today, he is remembered particularly for his realistic portraits and genre paintings, which offer an intimate glimpse into the people and everyday environments of late 19th- and early 20th-century France.
